The Arc is hiring a Trust Accounting Associate.

Job Summary

The Trust Accounting Associate supports the day-to-day accounting operations of The Arc Master Trust, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of transactions for trust beneficiaries. This role is responsible for high-volume transaction processing, account reconciliations, and supporting the monthly close process and requires a high degree of reliability, consistency and attention to detail.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining strong internal controls and financial and beneficiary records. The Trust Accounting Associate works closely with the Accounting & Benefits Manager and Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO), while also collaborating with the trust team. The position reports to the CFAO.   This is a full-time in-office position located in downtown Indianapolis, IN.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process and record trust deposits accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Process payments electronically; coordinate ACH and vendor payments.
  • Perform trust disbursement processes in accordance with established procedures.
  • Reconcile trust credit card transactions to ensure accuracy in posting to beneficiary accounts.
  • Maintain vendor records within financial and trust systems.
  • Set up ACH process for beneficiaries and maintain ACH vendor records.
  • Monitor beneficiary spending targets for Trust I to ensure appropriate spending.
  • Reconcile True Link card activity to ensure appropriate record keeping for beneficiaries.
  • Support the monthly close process by ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Maintain organized and audit-ready supporting documentation for financial and trust transactions.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Director of Trust Administration on accounting related projects for beneficiaries.
  • Assist with audit preparation and requests related to trust activity.
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies or issues in transaction processing or account activity.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Associate’s degree in accounting or related field, or 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong computer skills including experience in automated accounting software, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Microsoft Excel. Sage INTACCT software experience a plus.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in high-volume transaction environments.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills ,with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Problem-solving mindset with willingness to research and resolve issues independently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the role.
