The Arc Master Trust
includes two Trust programs, Trust I and Trust II
Trust I was established in 1988 to help families provide for the future of their
loved ones.
It now has over 850 families enrolled; and handles disbursements
for over 300 families.
Trust II was established in 1995 to allow people with disabilities to fund their
own Trust.
Trust I now serves over 650 individuals, and over 600 disbursements are
made each month for
Trust II
recipients across the state.
Trust I and Trust II funds are on deposit with The
National Bank of Indianapolis.
Reliable,
Knowledgeable Staff and Advisors
Melissa Justice was recently appointed to serve as Trust Director of The Arc
Master Trust.
Melissa has served The Arc for twelve years, most recently as
Controller for The Arc of Indiana
and supervisor for financial management of The
Arc Master Trust.
The Trust staff also includes Geyssel Gonzalez and Elizabeth Clayton, Trust
Account Managers.
Tom Ewbank, attorney with Krieg DeVault, has been retained to
provide legal counsel to The Arc Master Trust.
Tom is an expert and leader in
the field of Trusts, and was instrumental in working with Alan Kemp,
The Arc’s
first Trust Director, to help found the Trust twenty years ago.
A Trust Advisory Committee and Family Advisory Committee, as well as The Arc of
Indiana Board of Directors,
provides advice and oversight of The Arc Master
Trust.
Understanding Family Concerns
The Arc of Indiana was founded by parents
in 1956. As a statewide, not-for-profit organization,
governed by members and
a board of directors made up mainly by family members,
we understand and respond
to family concerns.
The Arc Master Trust is our response to a need felt by many families.
As
families learn about us, many decide The Arc Master Trust is reliable option.
A Financial Planning Option
Trust I helps families leave funds for a loved one without affecting eligibility
for government benefits,
such as SSI, Medicaid and state or federally funded
residential programs.
Trust II allows a person with a disability to fund their own Trust,
or in some
instances for a family member to fund Trust II.
Government programs are limited to basics like food, shelter, and medcal care.
Funds invested in The Arc Master Trust can pay for items not covered by
government benefits.
The Arc’s Expertise
Government benefits have regulations that must be understood and followed, or
eligibility for benefits could be lost. The Arc has the expertise to understand
government regulations.
Families do not need to worry about learning and
staying current with regulations and dealing with bureaucrats.
The Arc takes
this responsibility.
Assists Family Members
If money is left directly to your son or daughter, who will supervise how funds
are spent?
Leaving money in a trust, and specifying that the trustee must
approve all disbursements,
provides the oversight many families want. The Arc
Master Trust offers this service and protection.
Parents
often ask a family member to serve as trustee.
They want someone to remain
personally and actively involved with their child.
The Arc Master Trust does the
paper work, so family members can focus on the individual.
Affordable and Professionally Managed
If you want to start a trust through your local bank, you might find the annual
fees far higher than you can afford.
For many families, The Arc Master Trust is
an affordable option.
Ease of Use
The Trust is easy to use. Requests for disbursements are usually made over the
phone.
User Satisfaction
Each year, we ask the people making requests for Trust disbursements if they are
happy with our service.
Almost all give us high marks, marks we make public on
our web site. Go to:
